An arrest has been made following a stabbing in Chatham’s Tecumseh Park over a week ago.

Just after 2 o’clock the morning of March 18, Chatham-Kent Police responded to a weapons incident on King Street West.

Authorities say two men and two women had arranged to meet to try to sort out a dispute, but the situation escalated. According to investigators, a man wearing a balaclava allegedly assaulted another man with a knife. A woman allegedly tried to intervene and injured the attacker, but was also hurt in the melee.

In all, three people were hurt and taken to hospital. The fourth person involved was identified as a witness to the attack.

On Monday March 25, a 19-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with disguise with intent, failing to comply with a probation order, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, two counts of failing to comply with a sentence, and two counts of aggravated assault. He was held in custody for a bail hearing.
