Tens of thousands of dollars’ worth of drugs have been taken off the streets of Wallaceburg.

Provincial police have released details of a drug bust last week, with OPP officers, as well as members of the Chatham-Kent Police Intelligence Unit and Critical Incident Response Team executing a search warrant at a Forhan Street address.

Authorities say just under $28,000 worth of suspected methamphetamine and opioids were seized, along with Canadian currency and other offence-related items.

A 46-year-old man was arrested and has since been charged with possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5000, and two counts of drug possession for the purpose of trafficking.

The accused was released from custody and will be back in court in Sarnia next month.
