A Chatham-Kent man is facing child pornography charges after allegedly communicating with several underage victims through social media.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service said investigators were alerted by the National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children in November that a Chatham-Kent resident was sharing child sexual abuse material on Snapchat.
As part of the investigation, members of the Chatham-Kent police Internet Child Exploitation Unit executed a search warrant at a Blenheim residence and seized several electronic devices.
While analyzing the devices, investigators learned that the accused had allegedly been communicating with several children through Snapchat, Facebook Messenger and Discord.
As a result, a 28-year-old Chatham-Kent man was arrested on December 3. He is now charged with possession of child pornography, accessing child pornography, making child pornography available, and luring a person under the age of 18.
The man was held in custody for a bail hearing and the investigation remains ongoing.
