An hours-long standoff in Dover Township has lead to charges for a local man.

Chatham-Kent Police responded to a disturbance at a Dover Centre Line property at 11:42 Friday night.

Authorities say due to safety concerns, officers tried to negotiate with a man in the home, with several specialized units and resources deployed, including the Critical Incident Response Team, Canine Unit, Criminal Investigation Branch, drones, and armoured rescue vehicle.

Roughly four hours later, a 32-year-old man was taken into custody.

There’s no word yet on charges. Police say the incident remains under investigation.
