An arrest has been made following an armed robbery on Walpole Island.
Members of the Walpole Island Police Service and Lambton OPP responded to a River Road property around 10:30 Monday night. Authorities say the suspect was armed with a firearm.
A number of specialty teams were also deployed, including the Canine Unit and Tactics and Rescue Unit, following the trail to a nearby home where a suspect was taken into custody without incident.
A 42-year-old Walpole Island resident is charged with robbery with a weapon and two counts of failing to comply with a release order.
The accused, whose name is not being named at this point to protect the integrity of the investigation, was held in custody for a bail hearing.
Authorities say more information will be provided as it becomes available.
