Arrests Made In String Of Ontario Bank Robberies

Four men have been arrested and another remains at large after more than $2 million was stolen during a string of armed bank robberies across Ontario.

The Ontario Provincial Police said eight banks were robbed in Arkona, Niagara Falls, Pickering, Newmarket, Belleville, Feversham, Barrie and Arnprior between December 8, 2022, and March 16, 2024.

Each of the robberies involved two or three individuals entering the banks prior to closing. At least one handgun was displayed during each robbery and the suspects wore different masks and clothing each time. In six of the eight robberies, bank employees were bound, however, no one was injured.

Authorities said the group of suspects are allegedly responsible for more than $2 million in reported losses across eight banks. The money has not yet been recovered.

Officers arrested three of the suspects during an attempted robbery in Field, Ontario, and the fourth was arrested on September 25, 2024, in Vaughan. The accused face a combined 53 charges including conspiracy to commit an indictable offence, robbery with violence, forcible confinement, disguise with intent and pointing a firearm.

A fifth suspect has also been charged but remains outstanding.

Anyone with information regarding this man’s whereabouts is asked not to approach him and contact police immediately.
