A local man has been charged in connection to a residential fire in Wallaceburg.
Firefighters from Stations 2 in Chatham and Station 3 in Wallaceburg responded to the blaze at 3 Wills Street at around 9:45 p.m. on Saturday.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service said the fire started in a detached garage and no one was at home at the time. As well, no injuries were reported.
After the fire was extinguished it was ultimately deemed an arson by investigators.
Police were able to identify a suspect and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
The 44-year-old Chatham-Kent man was arrested on Wednesday in Wallaceburg and is now charged with one count of arson with disregard for human life. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
