One person has been arrested and police are looking for another in connection to an apartment complex fire in Chatham.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service said a 30-year-old Chatham woman has been arrested following the fire at 99 McNaughton Avenue West on Sunday, which displaced nearly 100 residents. She has since been charged with arson with disregard for human life and was remanded into custody following a bail hearing.
Authorities have also issued an arrest warrant for 48-year-old Leonard Greason for the same charge. Police have released a photo of Greason, which can be viewed below, but the public is advised not to approach the suspect. He is known to frequent London the area.
The investigation, which involves Chatham-Kent Fire and Rescue Services, the Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office, and Chatham-Kent Police Criminal Investigation Branch, remains ongoing.
