Assault Charges Laid Following St Clair Street Disturbance

A Chatham man has been slapped with several charges after causing a ruckus at a St Clair Street business.

Police were called out around 9 o’clock Monday night and say the man refused to leave the store, kicked the front doors, and threatened an employee with a shard of glass while yelling obscenities.

A passerby intervened and escorted the accused outside until officer arrived.

The 29-year-old suspect has been charged with assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and mischief under $5000.
