An arrest has now been made after a man was injured during an assault earlier this month.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers responded to Young Street at around 10:30 a.m. on July 16, after an argument between two men turned violent.

Authorities said one of the men was struck by the other, causing injuries.

The attacker left the scene before officers arrived and a warrant was issued for the accused.

The suspect was located and arrested on Grand Avenue East in Chatham at around 10 a.m. on Monday. While in police custody the man allegedly damaged police equipment.

He is now charged with one count each of assault and mischief, and was held in custody for a bail hearing.
