ATVI guess 3’s a charm as Chatham Kent Council approved a new bylaw that would allow ATV’s on certain roads in the municipality.  For the third time C-K Council debated the pros and cons of ATV’s on municipal roads.

The Off Road Vehicle bylaw passed by a slim margin last night, and it would allow ATV’s on municipal roadways but not on city or town streets or major highways like the 401 or Highway 40.  Not everyone was in favor of the proposal.

Mayor Randy Hope has concerns about safety saying some ATV’s have engines that are bigger than Harley Davidson motorcycles and that is a concern especially when there is not a specialty licence needed to operate the vehicles.

The bylaw was approved by the vote was slim, 9 to 8 in favor.
