ATV Use Still A Concern With Police

ATVThe one year probationary By-Law allowing ATV’s on some roads in the municipality was brought up at the Police Services Board meeting yesterday.

Chief Gary Conn was again asked why he did not support the By-Law and he said it’s a matter of public safety.  Conn says the term ATV says it perfectly, All Terrain Vehicle.  They are meant for off road use.

Conn says with ATV’s being allowed on the roads one thing that he is concerned with, is that people may think it is okay to jump on their ATV to go to the store instead of using a car or truck.

There have been maps issued by the Chatham-Kent ATV Club to inform people as to where they can and cannot ride in C-K.

Chief Conn says he has gotten 12 reports of incidents that relate to ATV use in the month of March alone.
