Authier Convicted In 2019 Shooting

A 35 year old Wallaceburg man has been sentenced to 18 months in jail in connection with shooting in February of 2019.

Michael Authier plead guilty to aggravated assault, down from attempted murder. He was given credit for pre-trial custody so has just 90 days to serve.

In what was described as a drug deal gone bad, Authier says he was only trying the scare the 18-year-old victim and her three friends when the shotgun went off.

The woman was taken to hospital in Wallaceburg for treatment.
