A new local theatre company is hitting the ground running.
After 20 years of working with Theatre Kent, JC Wright is launching Avid Theatre Productions.
“Avid is going to be different because it’s going to produce plays that are more on the fringe, more avant-garde, plays that you don’t often see” Wright says. “It’s going to be meant for very small audiences, very intimate, allowing the audience to become part of the show itself.”
The company has already started rehearsals for its first show, Yours Forever Marie Lou by Michel Trembley, to be staged at the Brio Academy in Chatham June 8-9.
“Right now I’m looking at one show a year,” Wright says. “The goal is within the next five years or so, turning this into a two to three show production, but we’re going to start with one, take it slow, and see where we go from there.”
Tickets will go on sale February 15th, but to pre-book, you can call 519-350-2590.
