Most students and many parents have had this day circled on their calendars, it’s time to head back to school.

For many, it’s the first time they’ll see the inside of a classroom since April because of the pandemic.

All local boards are returning today with Kindergarten through grade 12. Junior Kindergarten students begin a staggered return tomorrow and Thursday.

There have been precautions taken, such as upgrades to ventilation systems over the break, masks will be mandatory and social distancing will apply.

About 1,000 students across the Lambton-Kent and St Clair Catholic District School Boards have opted to learn remotely once again this fall, an option that was offered to all students.

Meantime, police remind drivers to be extra careful on the drive to work with school busses back on the road and children rushing to see old friends.

School buses won’t be a common sight in downtown Wheatley with the evacuation order still in place.
