One lucky Chatham-Kent homeowner saw their property get a face lift this past weekend as part of the annual Backyard Mission.

Two local churches take on the project, including the First Christian Reformed Church. Pastor Nate Van Denend explains the selection process.

“Different people can put their name in and then we, as a committee, look over it and see based on need and what kind of work we can get done in two or three days, and then we select someone,” Van Denend explains. “It doesn’t cost them anything, we donate all the supplies and all the labour.”

This year’s recipient was Dorothy Forsyth of Houston Street in Chatham, who had a ramp installed and some landscaping done, among other things.

Volunteers from First Presbyterian also teamed up for the 8th annual Backyard Mission.

Organizers say the submission process begins all over again in February.
