Baldoon Gets Back to its Roots

The future of the Baldoon Golf Club has finally been decided, with a zoning change approved by municipal council.

The club closed in 2014 and was sold to the current owners two years later.

The new owners wanted to turn the course itself into farm land, but there was some concern about the loss of wildlife habitat around the ponds.

Coucnilor Jeff Wesley says the zoning approval has been a long time coming.

“That’s been a long, drawn-out issue, unfortunately,” Wesley says. “Basically anything that was there is gone, and quite frankly I think it’ll look better as agricultural land than the way it sits now.”

Though the land will be agricultural in nature, the Clubhouse on site remains open for business as a restaurant.
