The union representing striking Enbridge Gas employees is returning to the bargaining table, more than two weeks after workers walked off the job.

More than 100 storage, transmission, and operations (STO) workers across Ontario have been on strike since May 25, after rejecting Enbridge’s last offer. Roughly 60 of those workers are employed at the Enbridge Gas Dawn Hub in Tupperville.

Unifor Local 999, the union representing the employees, is expected to resume bargaining with Enbridge on Friday, according to union representative Stacey Renaud.

The union has previously stated that wages have been been the point of contention for employees.

Andrea Stass, a spokesperson for Enbridge Gas, said the company’s original offer was initially accepted by union leaders before being voted down by STO employees.

“We put forward a fair and reasonable proposal for a new collective agreement,” she said. “It is consistent with other agreements ratified by other Enbridge members of Unifor.”

Stass said Enbridge is optimistic that a settlement will be achieved that is fair to both sides of the labour dispute.
