It’s official – work on Wallaceburg’s Base Line Bridge is done.
The municipality issued a statement late Thursday afternoon saying the span is now open for pedestrians, vehicular traffic, and operational for boats that need the bridge to be opened.
The $2.2 million dollar rehabilitation project included structural steel repairs, concrete sidewalk and curb repairs, upgrades and replacements of the mechanical equipment, and new asphalt installed.
The work began back in October with a three-month closure. The final leg of the project started up in mid-April with on-again, off-again closures over the past few weeks.
