Work on Wallaceburg’s Base Line Bridge is taking a little longer than expected.
Municipal officials say the span over the Sydenham, which was supposed to reopen to traffic today, will remain closed until the evening of Wednesday, May 12th.
“This extension is as a result of the poor/wet weather we have been getting as well as the forecasted wet weather coming,” Director of Engineering Chris Thibert says.
“The only remaining work required on the bridge is the asphalt and hot rubberized deck treatment work which requires at least two dry days back to back to complete. We are anticipating that these two days will be available within this one week extension and hoping it is sooner than later.”
