Base Line Crash Sends Two Drivers to Hospital

Two people are recovering in hospital following a serious crash leading into the weekend.

Shortly before 7 o’clock Friday evening, emergency crews responded to a two-vehicle collision on Base Line between Florence Road and Smoke Line in Camden Township.

Authorities say a pickup driven by a 63-year-old Thamesville man was heading eastbound when it crossed the centre line and collided with a westbound truck, driven by a 65-year-old man from Windsor.

The Thamesville man was taken to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance with minor injuries. However, the Windsor man was taken to hospital in Newbury before being airlifted to London with life-threatening injuries.

Both are now listed in stable condition.

The Chatham-Kent Police Traffic Management Unit has been called in to help with the investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact Constable Joel Rehill, at joelr@chatham-kent.ca or the Traffic Management Office at 519-355-1092.
