What was a temporary position has become permanent for the head of the local French Catholic school board.
Carolyn Bastien was named interim Director of Education and Secretary-Treasurer of the Providence board in February, and has now officially taken over the role.
“Over the past few months as acting Director of Education, Ms. Bastien has demonstrated a strong sense of leadership and collaboration as we continue to pursue the objectives of our 2021-2026 strategic plan,” said Jacques Kenny, chairperson of the Board in a news release.
Bastien has over 20 years of experience with the board, including more than 15 years as business superintendent and treasurer.
“Having worked with French-speaking Catholic schools for many years, I am very proud to represent Csc Providence’s francophone Catholic schools,” Bastien said. “I am determined to uphold the tradition of excellence in our schools to ensure the well-being and success of every student. With the entire team, we will continue to nurture a welcoming, caring and respectful environment and ensure that our school board is a preferred destination for students and staff alike.”
The Providence Catholic School Board provides education to nearly 9,500 students in 23 elementary schools and 8 secondary schools across southwestern Ontario, including schools in Tilbury, Chatham, Pain Court, and Grande Pointe.
