A local man has been charged after a woman was assaulted in front of a child in Wallaceburg.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service said witnesses reported seeing a man and a woman arguing in a parking lot near a vehicle on Wallace Street on Monday shortly before 7 p.m. The man also reportedly threw a beer can towards the woman during the incident.
It was later learned that a child was in the vehicle at the time of the assault and had been affected during the confrontation.
Officers arrived at the scene and found the child unharmed.
A 21-year-old Wallaceburg man was arrested and is now charged with assault with a weapon. He was later released from custody with a future court date.
