A crowd of close to 400 people gathered on St Clair Street in Chatham Wednesday to welcome PPC Leader Maxime Bernier to town.
The only federal leader to make a stop in the riding during this campaign so far, Bernier arrived at the Ultimate Sports Bar in a custom stretch limo with music blaring.
Even without any polling numbers, he says support for his party is growing across the country.
“They are coming because they know the fight of this election is the fight to gain back our freedoms,” Bernier says. “I believe some of our candidates will get elected. How many? Two, three, five, or 20, 30, 50, I don’t know. I’m saying to Canadians get out there and vote because this election is important for the future of this country and if you don’t want more government control over your life, we are there for you.”
CKL Candidate Liz Vallee echoes Bernier’s swagger.
“The support that I have is astronomical, I know I’m going to win this riding. I am super pumped and I am super grateful. There has been so much help and support and love, but this definitely solidifies my confidence in winning this election.”
Vallee repeatedly voiced their frustration over COVID restrictions, referring to Ontario’s proof-of-vaccination policy as a sign of bigotry and tyranny.
Bernier and Vallee were joined at the rally by outspoken Independent MPP Randy Hillier and controversial Aylmer preacher Henry Hildebrandt.
Earlier in the day, Bernier made stops in Sarnia and Inwood.
