Two popular motorcycle events are set to become one ‘super’ event next year.
Bikefest, which has been run by Big Brothers Big Sisters of Chatham-Kent since 2005, is merging with the Torch Ride for Special Olympics.
Organizer, CKPS Constable Jason Herder is heading up the new combined event.
“We were approached by Big Brothers Big Sisters with respect to taking over BikeFest, they were looking to step away from it and they asked what our thoughts and interests were in taking over elements of the event,” Herder explains. “It all pieced itself together and we’re looking forward to re-branding and making a bigger Torch Ride event.”
Herder says it’s early, but he thinks the two will tie in together nicely for a one-day event.
Both BikeFest and the Torch Ride have typically been held in August.
