Chatham’s Riverview Gaming Centre isn’t too worried about a new casino coming to town.
General Manager Carla Fox says they expect business to dip slightly once the new casino opens, but only for a short time.
Fox says their loyal customer base also go to the Dresden and Windsor casinos, and she’s confident the Gaming Centre’s unique atmosphere will be able to coexist with the Chatham Casino.
“We have 95 charities that rely on the funds generated through Bingo,” Fox says. “There would be a big deficit if those charities had to go look for funds elsewhere. They do so many wonderful things in our community, and I think the community would suffer [if everyone went to the new casino instead]”
Fox says the Gaming Centre provides a more social atmosphere, and you only have to pay once for 2 hours of entertainment, which is different from a casino.
Riverview Gaming raised more than $1-million dollars for local charities last year, and they hope to continue to support the community for years to come.
Charities they supported in the past few days through 2-hr bingo session slots: MS Society, Junior Achievement, Helping Girls Achieve Goals, Chatham Rotary Club, VON CK, Cystic Fibrosis. Charities can inquire about how to participate – visit www.riverviewgamingcentre.com
