A Toronto man has been arrested after a run-in with police in Blenheim.
Just after noon on Tuesday, officers tried to pull over a vehicle on Chatham Street North. However, police say the vehicle continued to drive away.
Officers then tried to block the suspect, but the driver reversed, nearly hitting one of the cruisers, and sped off again.
The accused stopped a short distance away and tried to run, but was caught and taken into custody.
Chatham-Kent Police also claim the man gave a fake name, had a suspended driver’s license, and was wanted on outstanding warrants in other jurisdictions.
The 24-year-old is has now been charged with flight from police, dangerous driving, obstructing police and operating a motor vehicle while prohibited. He was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.
