Charges have been laid against a Blenheim man, accused of attacking a police officer.
Authorities were called to an apartment in Blenheim last night and allegedly found the accused in a drunken rampage, damaging property around the home.
One of the officers stepped in and tried to stop the man from hurting himself when the accused took a swing at him, threatened the officer and grabbed his body armour.
The officer then deployed a Taser and the 59-year-old was taken into custody.
The accused is now charged with assaulting police and uttering threats.
