For the past 18 months or so, Blenheim residents have struggled with poor cell phone service.
Dropped calls, unreliable service, dead zones and not being able to complete calls have been issues for cell phone users in the South Kent community.
Citizens, frustrated with having little to no cell phone service, are getting fed up and have enlisted municipal politicians to help their cause for better service.
South Kent councillor Anthony Ceccacci said he believes the issue is an infrastructure problem. He brought in a resolution at Monday’s Chatham-Kent council meeting to have the municipality contact wireless providers to consider additional infrastructure to the Blenheim area to provide adequate service for wireless users.
Ceccacci said the resolution will show residents that they hear them, as it’s a big issue and major concern in Blenheim. He said he hopes the resolution will at least hopefully let wireless providers consider their request.
He said the issue hurts businesses as they can’t use debit and credit machines due to the unreliable service.
