A Blenheim company has been awarded a contract the next phase of construction at the Bloomfield Business Park.

Clarke Construction Inc. was the lowest bidder at $1,385,493. A contract amendment of $22,600 was also approved for Aplin & Martin Consultants Ltd. for contract administration and inspection services, and Entegrus will receive $197,750 to complete the main line hydro and street light installation.

The municipally-serviced industrial area and business park was approved by council in 2002, with Phase 1 completed in 2005 and Phase 2 in 2023.

The next phase of the project will see road and sewer services extended along Seventh Line West, upgrades to the gravel road to a paved standard with proper drainage, and installation of utilities including hydro, street lights, gas, and telecommunications.

“Continued investment in the Bloomfield Business Park helps ensure that Chatham-Kent remains ready for new business opportunities and job creation,” said Mayor Darrin Canniff. “Expanding infrastructure within the park strengthens our ability to attract and support economic development along the Highway 401 corridor.”

As part of the work along Seventh Line West, some trees located within the municipal right-of-way will need to be removed to accommodate the road and infrastructure upgrades, however the adjacent municipal tree lot will remain in place and will not be impacted by the construction.

Construction is expected to start this spring and be largely complete by late summer.
