Liberal MPP and Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Energy Bob Delaney is defending the province’s track record regarding the energy file.
Delaney says despite cost increases, there have been positive economic effects regarding the switch to cleaner energy sources.
“10 to 12 years ago you would average 50 something smog days per year in metro Toronto. For the last four years there have been zero. Getting the coal out of our atmosphere has meant savings of in the neighbourhood of two and a half billion dollars a year on health care.”
Delaney adds that natural gas will continue to make up an important part of the province’s energy mix.
