Body of Missing Swimmer Recovered

A tragic end to the search for a missing swimmer in Lake Erie.

Emergency crews responded to Rondeau Provincial Park Saturday afternoon after a 25-year-old man fell off an inflatable raft and didn’t resurface.

Search and rescue crews were on the water and in the air for the rest of the day and returned Sunday.

Around 2:30 Sunday afternoon, the OPP underwater search and recovery unit and members of the Chatham-Kent and Elgin OPP marine units recovered the victim’s body, identified as Yuriy Zhlobitskyy of Barrie.

A post mortem exam will be held Monday in London.
