Body Of Swimmer Found In Lake Erie

The body of a missing man has been found after he went missing while swimming off the pier in Leamington.

The Ontario Provincial Police said emergency crews responded to a report of a missing swimmer in Lake Erie at the end of Erie Street South shortly before 8 p.m. on Saturday.

It was learned that two people had entered the water but only one was able to make it back to shore.

It was announced on Monday that the OPP Marine Unit and the OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit recovered the body of the missing 45-year-old man.

Leamington Fire Services, Essex-Windsor EMS and the Canadian Coast Guard also assisted in the search.
