A boil water advisory has been issued for the southern part of Chatham-Kent.
The boil water advisory includes residents who are on municipal water and live south of the 401 between Rondeau (not including Rondeau Provincial Park) and Wheatley.
There are also some areas north of the 401 affected, including customers near the intersection of Doyle Line and Charing Cross Road, the Bloomfield Industrial Park, and a handful of sites on McDougall just off of Merlin Road.
Residents are asked to bring the water to a rolling boil for at least one minute prior to using it for domestic purposes e.g. drinking, making infant formula and juice, brushing teeth, washing foods and making ice.
April Rietdyk, General Manager of Health and Family Services with the Public Health Unit says the advisory was put in place following a loss of pressure in the drinking water system.
“The PUC will be taking samples for the next 48 hours, and once those samples come back clear we will rescind that order,” Rietdyk says. “There’s been nothing found in the water right now, this is completely precautionary.”
This advisory measure is in place until the Health Unit receives good results from two consecutive sets of samples taken a minimum of 24 hours apart.
