Boiler Issues Force Cancellation of Elective Surgeries at CKHA

While frigid weather has Chatham-Kent in its grip, the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance is having its own temperature issues.

Officials say the Chatham hospital is experiencing some operational issues with its boiler system, leaving the heat fluctuating in some areas of the building.

That, in turn, is impacting the Medical Device Reprocessing Department, limiting the ability to reprocess medical equipment.

For now, hospital officials have decided to cancel all elective surgeries on Wednesday, January 28, and are working closely with external boiler service specialists to diagnose and resolve the issue as quickly and safely as possible.

A CKHA statement says every effort is being made to restore full service and maintain a comfortable environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
