A popular fundraiser has returned to transform empty bottles into educational resources for children in the community.
The Kiwanis Club of Chatham-Kent is once again partnering with the Dolly Parton Imagination Library for Bottles for Books 2.0 from August 30 to September 7.
“The impact of reading and imagination on a child’s life is immeasurable,” said Jennifer Paradis, membership chair for the Kiwanis Club of CK, in a news release. “By participating in Bottles for Books, you’re not only helping to recycle and support a cleaner environment but also investing in a child’s education and imagination.”
Local residents are invited to donate empty liquor, wine, and beer bottles, as well as any alcohol or beer cans, to fund the distribution of books through the Dolly Parton Imagination Library. The program provides free, high-quality books to children from birth until they start school, regardless of their family’s income.
A similar Bottles for Books drive was held in May, raising a total of $1,200.
To donate bottles or cans, visit the CK Kiwanis Club website to fill out a form for bottle pickup or to arrange a drop-off location.
