A popular fundraiser is returning to help put more books in the hands of kids in the community.

The Kiwanis Club of Chatham-Kent is once again teaming up with the Dolly Parton Imagination Library to promote childhood literacy.

The Dolly Parton Imagination Library is a book gifting program that mails free, high-quality books to children from birth until they begin school, no matter their family’s income.

The Bottles for Books fundraiser will be held Saturday, May 25th. Area residents are invited to donate empty liquor and beer bottles with the return money being used to purchase new books for kids in Chatham-Kent.

At 9 o’clock that morning, residents are invited to leave empty liquor, wine, and beer bottles plus any alcohol or beer cans in their driveway for pickup by the Kiwanis Club’s volunteers.

A similar campaign in January raised over $1000 for the project.
