Boxing Day Theft Leads To Charges

An enthusiastic Boxing Day shopper is facing charges following a theft at a Wallaceburg business.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers were called to the business at around 9 a.m. on Thursday after a man gathered multiple items in a grocery cart and attempted to flee out of the back door of the business.

Officers were able to locate and arrest a 57-year-old Chatham man who was also wanted on an outstanding warrant.

The accused was taken to police headquarters and held for a bail hearing. Authorities have not provided details on the charges.
