“Bridge Week” in Wallaceburg continues today as municipal crews are washing down the bridges to get the winter road salt off of them.

Dundas Bridge was first, that was Monday. Today it’s the Lord Selkirk Bridge and tomorrow the Murray St. Bridge.

It will cause some traffic delays but municipal engineer Mark Ceppi says it has to be done.

“We have crews come in and just wash the structural components, mainly to remove any salt and dirt from the winter,” notes Ceppi. “It’s all intended to improve the longevity of the the bridge and it’s a yearly program.”

In some cases instead of a full closure, it will simply be alternating lanes.
