Bridge Inspections Begin

The Infrastructure and Engineering Department is being proactive when it comes to maintaining local bridges.

Nearly $2-million dollars ($1,882,071.50) is being spent on inspecting the municipality’s bridges and culverts.

Municipal administration says just under $200,000 will be spent annually over the next decade to determine which structures need maintenance, and to what extent.

The contract has been awarded to a company based in Mississauga, and will be responsible for inspecting all of Chatham-Kent’s 863 structures.

The municipality says this contract is 6% less expensive than the previous one.
