Local educators are trying to adjust to a school year unlike any other.
John Howitt, Director of Education for the Lambton Kent District School Board says with COVID-19 safety protocols in mind, they’ve been working with public health to come up with guidelines to allow for some student activities to resume.
“We have recently done that in the arts,” Howitt says. “(Chatham-Kent’s Medical Officer of Health) Dr. Colby and Dr. Ranade from Lambton County have added some guidelines in for music, such that students can be playing instruments and choral, have some guidelines in place that involve them being outside and masks on the valves of instruments and those kinds of things.”
Howitt says next up will be trying to get sports back in schools.
The local boards are following the direction of OFSAA at this point, and could start looking into drafting guidelines in the next few weeks.
