Brush Fire Spreads To Garage In Bothwell

Damage is pegged at around $100,000 after a brush fire spread to a garage in Bothwell.

The Chatham-Kent Fire and Rescue Service said a homeowner on Zone Road 5 was burning brush on Friday afternoon when the blaze spread to nearby trees before engulfing the garage.  Firefighters responded to the blaze shortly after 4 p.m.

Fire officials said the homeowner attempted to extinguish the fire himself, but the garage, a classic car, and a motorcycle were all destroyed in the blaze.

No injuries were reported.

Fire officials are urging the public to never leaves fires unattended after responding to three separate brush fires in a two-hour period on Friday.
