Chatham-Kent council will start one of the hardest jobs on their list tonight, dealing with the 2016 municipal budget.

Mayor Randy Hope says it is so difficult because there are so many demands from various groups and each community has various needs.

“People are still making demands upon the municipality to do more. We have a number of communities looking for upgrades or new facilities in their areas and there just isn’t the capital required in order to do that,” says Mayor Hope. “Let’s face it. Over the years, we’ve been able to managed the budget quite well and keep our taxes at very moderate increases.”

Council will have a few weeks to discuss and trim in order to balance the books.
