As calls for concrete median barriers along the 401 continue to mount, a second town hall meeting is being scheduled.
Alysson Storey, head of the Build the Barrier movement, says this winter has been especially treacherous with the risk of cross-over collisions on the rise, putting everyone at risk.
“The fact that we have this 116-kilometre stretch of wind swept roads, where there is literally nothing to block the wind or protect drivers, it really does remind every driver that having a median concrete barrier is a lot safer when you’re out therein a blizzard. It’ll protect you and other drivers who may cross the highway”, says Storey.
Storey says the movement is gaining momentum.
“We’ve had more and more support as we go. Now that we’ve got a new year and a provincial election coming up, there’s a lot of work to do. With an election coming up, this is our best chance to get something done”, Storey says.
The meeting will be held at the Lambeth Community Centre in London on February 7th.
