A burn ban has been lifted in Chatham-Kent.

Chatham-Kent Fire and Rescue announced Tuesday afternoon that with the rainfall experienced over the past couple of days, conditions have changed to allow for the suspension of open-air burning to be lifted.

The ban was initially imposed on June 8 amid dry conditions and air quality concerns.

“During the ban, there were only a couple of instances of non-compliance and once the fire crews spoke with property owners, they were happy to comply and extinguish the fire,” said Assistant Chief Adam Walters in a news release.

Those wishing to obtain a residential campfire or agricultural open-air burn permit can do so at any municipal service centre or online at ckfire.ca.
