Chatham-Kent Police are once again asking the public to be careful when it comes to their cell phones and dialing 911.

The false calls take officers away from regular police actions and is a serious situation.

Just in the last 24 hours they received 20 of these calls.

People accidentally call 911, see what they did and hang up.

It’s too late as dispatchers have to immediately roll emergency services to the location.

If you call 911 by mistake don’t hang up, but tell the dispatcher what happened.

And if you need the police but it is not an emergency call 519-352-1234.
