The recent COVID-19 outbreak at Greenhill Produce in Kent Bridge doubled Chatham-Kent’s case load, which previously looked rather impressive.
C-K’s Medical Officer of Health admits the outbreak is frustrating, but Public Health feels the situation is under control.
“It was quite disconcerting,” says Dr. Colby. “But we’re here to handle this kind of situation. That’s what Public Health does. We jumped on this situation at the earliest possible opportunity. That kind of aggressive, case finding, isolation, management and monitoring is what keeps Chatham-Kent safe. And that’s what we’ve been doing since this started, all the way through.”
Despite that recent growth in positive cases, Dr. Colby says Chatham-Kent continues to look good and should stay on track.
“The aggressive social distancing measures that apply to the entire community really help to plug up any existing leaks in the system,” adds the doc. “So far this has worked very well in Chatham-Kent. We’re still in a very favourable position compared to most jurisdictions in the province.”
There are 51 confirmed cases connected to the outbreak at Greenhill Produce. One of those cases is now considered to be recovered.
In total, 54 cases in C-K are are currently ‘active’ – meaning only four current cases are ‘active’ outside of the outbreak.
33 cases are now resolved.
As of Sunday afternoon, 1,829 tests have been conducted in C-K. Only 50 tests are pending.
