Chatham-Kent is now looking for local artists to help turn ordinary spaces into extraordinary works of art.
The municipality is asking artists to take part in the new public art initiative, the “Electrical Boxes Transformation Project.”
Those interested in participating can submit their works of art online for a chance to have them featured on electrical boxes throughout Chatham-Kent. Selected artists will also be paid $500 for their designs.
In collaboration with Entegrus and Impact Graphics, the program will be financed through Mayor Darrin Canniff’s portion of the Hydro One Community Benefit program, which is designated for recreational and art projects.
“Chatham-Kent now, more than ever, is cementing its reputation as a forward-thinking municipality. I extend my gratitude to all the creative minds in CK who put their hard work and passion towards the betterment of our community. Your artistic vision and talents have the power to shape the way CK residents and beyond perceive Chatham-Kent,” said Canniff in a news release.
To qualify, artists must live or work in Chatham-Kent. Designs can be submitted online through the Let’s Talk Chatham-Kent website. The deadline to submit is August 24 at 4 p.m.
