A $1000 scholarship is now available to local high school students.

Students are invited to submit original work for upcoming Thames Art Gallery exhibit “HERE I AM”.

Local artist Cathy Van Raay-Myers is generously sponsoring the scholarship award to a graduating student along with three people’s choice awards of $100.

To be considered for the scholarship, interested candidates must be in their graduating year of high school and attending a post-secondary program in an arts-related discipline in the fall.

The “HERE I AM” exhibit aims to celebrate the curiosity, passion, technique, and talent of emerging young creatives in grades 9-12 across Chatham-Kent.

The Thames Art Gallery is excited to work with local schools on this event, which aims to support our young artists and give them a platform to share their work and connect with a larger community.

Each artist can submit a maximum of three original creations of any media completed within the last year.

Submissions are being accepted until June 28 at 11:59 pm. Application forms and guidelines for both the exhibition and scholarship are available on the Thames Art Gallery website at www.tagartspace.com.

Questions about submitting to either the virtual exhibit or scholarship can be directed to the Thames Art Gallery at 226-312-2025 ext. 4425.

The “HERE I AM” exhibit will be on display on the gallery’s website from July 14 – October 30.
