Can-Am Indian Friendship Centre Expanding into CK

Windsor-based Can-Am Indian Friendship Centre is looking to expand services into Chatham-Kent.

The organization, which has been around for nearly 40 years, focuses on helping aboriginal people become self-sufficient, self-determining, and self-governing,

The group is looking to move into the old AIDS Support Chatham-Kent building on Adelaide St. in Chatham.

The plan is to offer services and be a gathering place for urban indigenous people, and is part of a broader $250-milllion commitment from the Ontario government’s reconciliation plans.
